South Pasadena, Pasadena, Altadena, San Marino, La Cañada, Alhambra, and more!
Hi, I'm Adriana, a former educator and administrative director who formed Paws & Hearts Companion Care to help people like my mother who is blind and has a difficult time finding someone in her area to help read her mail or take her to the store. I am conscientious and responsible - a lover of all animals - and provide support to local people with pet and house sitting needs.
I have a lifetime of experience caring for all kinds of pets AND people! As a former educator, I look forward to finding ways I can continue to support my community. If you are looking for patience and compassion without having to worry about your loved ones or your home, you have come to the right place.
Please Note: I do NOT provide trained health services or specialized medical assistance.

Ideal for family members who want someone local to check in on their loved one or for someone who would like some additional support to improve their well-being, enabling them to feel more confident, engaged, and independent. Companion Care is NON-MEDICAL, mostly in-home social emotional support for seniors or those with disabilities who are living alone and does NOT include "personal or home health care" which typically involves wound care, bathing, restroom support, or medication management.
Ideal for those who want or need some additional companionship and support. Activities may include (as applicable and appropriate): reading, games, conversation, facilitated walks around the block, and participation in favorite hobbies.
Ideal for those who want or need assistance with local errands/shopping or who would like to get out of the house and go out for a local activity. This could include going to coffee or a favorite meal, walking around the park, visiting a museum, or going to a movie, etc. Traveling in the car requires client ability to get into and out of an SUV with minimal assistance, ability to walk short distances, as well as coverage of incidentals if incurred (tickets, meals, and $5-10 towards gas).
Any booking MUST ensure that the household is free from pests and that no one in the household has COVID, the FLU, or any communicable illness. *Bookings are based upon availability. Prices subject to change.
"Adriana was a perfect companion to my sweet rescue kitty, Betty. Betty needed surgery and I was in a busy season at work. Adriana to the rescue! She stayed with Betty during the days, keeping her gently entertained and happy while she recovered, Adriana also cared for my other 2 kitties, ensuring everybody got affection, playtime, treats, and care. I highly recommend Adriana for your pet care needs -- she is friendly, attentive, and intuitive with animals and their unique personalities!" - Bree W.
"Adriana has cared for my sweet rescue dog while I've been out of town multiple times over the past four years. She exudes warmth and patience with both animals and people. My dog absolutely adores her! I completely trust Adriana with access to my home. While away, she sends daily photos of my dog to reassure me that he is happy and thriving. I confidently recommend Adriana as a professional and trustworthy companion for your loved ones." - Laura L.
"I have had the pleasure of knowing and working with Adriana for over 15 years, and I can confidently say she is one of the most professional, kind, and caring people I know. Her patience, responsibility, and attentiveness are unmatched. Adriana has cared for our dogs many times -- including for several weeks during a move -- and we always know our fur family are in the best hands with her. Paws & Hearts Companion Care is a true reflection of her huge heart and dedication to caring for others and those they love." - Gabriel G.

Yes, if you would like to arrange support for a loved one, you can book me to visit someone else and handle payments separately. However, they have to know about and agree to my visiting them, and I would like to meet them by phone before I come over as well as confirm with them by phone before each visit.
No, I cannot perform health-related or medical support. This means I would be unable to dispense medicines, assist with bodily functions or wound care, hand feed a person, perform bodily lifting such as wheelchair to car or bed to chair. For this type of assistance, you would need to locate someone for "personal or home health care services."
I can spend time with someone in their home or local neighborhood, engaging them in conversation and activity, improving their sense of well-being and reducing feelings of isolation. Companion care provides social emotional support and interaction, tailored to individual needs. While I can be booked for a few hours at a time, I am not available for full-time care.
I offer sitting services for dogs, cats, rabbits, birds, hamsters, iguanas, turtles, fish, and other small pets. Unfortunately, I can NOT sit for pets that require live food, dogs or cats without updated vaccinations, dogs that are not neutered, female dogs in heat, or pets with a history of biting/scratching. Friendly small and medium sized dogs preferred (less than 50 lbs.).
No, I do not have the facilities to provide boarding services. Overnight sitting takes place at the pet's home, where they are most comfortable.
I will use whatever food/water you supply for your pet at your home to avoid any dietary issues.
Yes! We will have a meet-and-greet by video call, phone, or in-person before I come over for the first visit. This gives us the opportunity to see if we are the right fit for each other as well as time to discuss the specifics of your booking.
I will request information that is pertinent to the safety of your loved one (contact information, emergency contacts and resources, allergies, medication, preferences, food and activity restrictions, etc.). Additionally, I will need to know the following details regarding the booking: location, number and description of clients, goals/expectations/requests, parking, access information, location of supplies, schedule, home courtesy expectations (such as removing shoes at door or wearing an N-95 mask), and whether or not anyone in the household is ill.
All new clients will be asked to sign a general liability release in case something unforeseen occurs. Bookings are made as needed, and no contracts or commitments are required.
If you cancel at least 24 hours in advance, you will receive a full refund. Same day cancelations will result in either a credit to your account for use at a future time or a half refund as you prefer. Please call or text me if you need to cancel.
I know how difficult it is to juggle hectic and changing schedules. That's why I offer a wide range of services to help out people in my local community. From a pet that needs to be walked or fed while you are at work or traveling, or a need for someone to check on a family member and help them for a bit, I'm your gal! Book an appointment with me today and relax knowing that I've got you covered!
